Reports and exports

A review that stays on your screen is not finished. Prism produces three kinds of output: a branded report you can print to PDF, a reviewed copy of the data, and a CSV of whatever you have on screen.

The branded report

The report is a self-contained document built from the workspace as you have configured it — your stat cards in your order, with hidden ones omitted, the charts you chose, and the quality findings.

It opens in a new tab and the print dialogue follows, so "Export PDF" means print-to-PDF using your browser's own print output. That is a deliberate choice rather than a missing feature: it keeps the report generated entirely on your machine, with no document service involved, and it gives you the page setup, margins and paper size controls your browser already has.

What goes in it

• The file name and record count, so the report identifies what it describes
• Your stat cards — totals, averages, date ranges — in the order you arranged them
• The charts currently configured on the dashboard, including the time series
• The quality score and the issues behind it
• Column profiling for the fields that matter
• Your branding

Branding it

Set a name and logo in Configuration and they carry onto every report. The logo is embedded in the document itself, not linked from anywhere, so the report stays self-contained and readable offline or forwarded by email.

Branding is saved into a recipe along with everything else, so it is set once rather than per file.

A reviewed copy of the file

When you have edited cells or tagged rows, exporting produces a new file — suggested with a -reviewed suffix — and leaves your original untouched.

CSV exports

Anywhere you have filtered, sorted or grouped, you can export exactly what you are looking at:

• Records — the current view, with your filters and column selection applied, not the whole file
• Pivot — the summarised table
• Compare — the diff between two files (see comparing two files)
• Duplicates — from the free duplicate finder, either the duplicate list or a deduplicated copy

Exporting a filtered view is often the most useful thing here: "the 43 rows that failed this check" is a far more actionable attachment than the file everybody already has.

Where files are written

On browsers that support it you get a native save dialogue and choose the location yourself. Elsewhere the file downloads to your normal downloads folder. Either way the file is produced in the browser and written to your disk — nothing is generated on a server, because there isn't one.
